we had to endure cold showers the entire stay. It was frustrating since the hotel was aware of it but didn't seem to fix it quickly enough. Just disappointing.

The breakfast had a lot of excellent options, and was particularly good. Its location was indeed good and fab and only 5 minutes walk from ruined Medieval fortress. And the area was downstairs lounge, near to the centre of a really lovely town, and the castles and the Northumbrian history.

The hotel is situated in a charming stone building and has an inviting atmosphere. I loved that it was pet-friendly since I brought my dog along! The room was spacious and clean, and the breakfast spread was pretty excellent - fresh fruit, good cereals, and delicious hot options were all on offer.
Parking was a real hassle, and I barely squeezed my car into the tiny lot. The room had some maintenance issues, including a faulty heating system and broken window frames. I expected better for the price, honestly. I don’t think I’d come back here again.

great ambiance but uncomfortable pillows
The warm and friendly welcome set a positive tone for our stay. The lovely big room and bed provided a comfortable space, great to relax after a long day.
The pillows were uncomfortably flat, detracting from an otherwise pleasant experience.

The Superior Suite featured a separate lounge area. The location is a quick drive from a beautiful sandy beach, perfect for some leisure time or a walk with the dog.
The standard of the alternate room wasn't quite what we anticipated, being quite small for a suite. The evening noise from nearby traffic made it difficult to unwind, and the warm room could have benefitted from a lighter duvet for a better night's sleep.

Had a wonderful evening with great vegan curry and the softest rib-eye steak, though mine was a bit too bloody. Would definitely choose this spot again for the atmosphere!

Perfect for a dog-friendly getaway
We took our puppy and right away the staff, really nice touch. The food was surprisingly good too, like that steak & ale pie, very nice flavor, had us coming back for more.
Pricey but you know what, worth it for the experience.

Lovely village location, very close to the golf course. Room near the road, so a bit noisy at night.
